Innovative Joint Solution to Help LTPAC Providers Control Costs and Staff Levels to Acuity

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN–(Aug 6, 2013) – MDI Achieve, provider of MatrixCare™, the market-leading, certified Electronic Health Record solution for the long-term care and senior living continuum, and OnShift™, the leader in staff scheduling and labor management software for long-term care and senior living, today announced a partnership to deliver unprecedented solutions to address rising acuity levels and deliver cost savings across the post-acute continuum of care.

This partnership will create an absolute cost advantage that allows care providers to consistently deliver higher quality care while more closely managing the cost of labor and other expenses. The joint solution delivers this advantage by rebalancing costs more precisely to cover labor requirements on a resident-by-resident basis.

MDI Achieve Chief Executive Officer and President John Damgaard commented, “The integration of MatrixCare and OnShift allows providers to gain better control of their largest expense, labor. In a regulatory environment where many factors are beyond a provider’s control, we are excited to be working with OnShift to ultimately give some cost control back to the provider. This integration will support providers in calculating a total per-patient-day cost, which they must do to profitably participate in ACOs and bundled payment initiatives.”

Long-term and post-acute healthcare providers will be able to leverage combined clinical and labor information for better coordination of care, labor cost analytics and insight, and to more effectively manage staffing and realize greater efficiencies. The two companies will work together to seamlessly integrate MatrixCare with OnShift, exchanging data bi-directionally. In addition, a reciprocal channel arrangement is part of the partnership.

“We are excited about our partnership with MDI Achieve,” said Mark Woodka, Chief Executive Officer of OnShift. “Our mutual clients will have even greater and more meaningful labor and clinical information, in real-time, at their fingertips for making fast and informed decisions across clinical, financial, and operational areas. Delivering high quality, cost-effective care across the continuum is an imperative, and our work together is a critical step in helping post-acute providers succeed and achieve an absolute cost advantage.”

OnShift integration will be accomplished using MatrixCare Connections, a unique and innovative program recently introduced by MDI Achieve. The MatrixCare Connections program will formally certify the interoperability between MatrixCare and third-party systems and service organizations that are critical to providers, ensuring the integrity of information flows that often include Protected Health Information. MatrixCare Connections provides an open, cloud-based platform that supports integration between MatrixCare and third-party applications, devices, and systems, allowing providers to aggregate data from across the LTPAC continuum into the MatrixCare EHR.
